Student reports are now available on the Gateway. Reports will be posted to families next week.

QBS Home Learning

The QBS Home Learning policy can be found in Gateway from here. This policy will guide the setting of home learning (homework) for students at QBS from August 2016.

Thank You – QBS will miss you

I would like to acknowledge the retirement of Mrs Revathy Gurunathan one of the PTA Bus Escorts. She will retire after 29 years of loyal and dedicated service to our community. At the annual bus mother lunch on Monday, Revathy was thanked and recognised for her good service to the PTA and the students of QBS. Best wishes Revathy for the future. Mrs Mona Diwan (QBS PTA Coordinator) has written a farewell message for Revathy.

Mr Steve Atkinson will leave ESF after 27 years of outstanding service. This year QBS was lucky to have Mr Atkinson join the community after he finished his teaching career at Kowloon Junior School. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with Steve. Best wishes Mr Atkinson from everyone at QBS – we look forward to hearing how the cats settle into life in Durham. Mr Atkinson has written a farewell message to QBS.

Mrs Lily Lai will retire from QBS after 17 years of dedicated service to the community. Lily has contributed to the learning of many students over the years and we wish her all the best for the future. Thank you Lily for all of your hard work and the commitment. We will also say farewell to some wonderful teaching staff next week as they move onto new adventures both in Hong Kong and abroad. These colleagues have written messages for the QBS community. Please click here to read them.

There are also some of our hard working support staff leaving QBS to pursue new careers and opportunities in Hong Kong and beyond. Finally, Michelle Saad will step down as the PTA Chair next week. Thank you Michelle for being a great advocate for children at QBS and for giving so much of your time to support the work of the PTA and our school. Michelle was recognised for her contribution to QBS at the recent PTA and School Council meetings. Michelle has written a farewell message for QBS. QBS Staff Placements 2016/2017

Year 6 Graduation Lunch

This week the students and staff enjoyed the graduation lunch. The Year 6 students will be missed next year. We look forward to welcoming parents next week to the leaving assembly.

Summer Concert

This week we had a wonderful concert for parents by 150 students from junior and senior choirs, orchestra, rock band, recorder ensemble and the Chinese drum group. The students were confident and performed to a very high standard. Everyone was so proud of them. Congratulations students – the concert was excellent. It was a lovely end of year event, enjoyed by everyone.Thank you to Miss Hill (Lead Teacher of Expressive Arts) and her group of supporting staff and parents.

Last day of Term 3 – Crazy Hair and Free Dress

At the end of the school year all students (and staff) are invited to wear crazy hair and dress casual on the last day of Term 3 to mark the end of another busy and productive school year. Please send your child to school wearing crazy hair and in free dress next Friday.

End of Year Report

Dear Parents,

Your child’s End of Year Report is available online from today at 12.00pm on the Gateway. A signed hard copy will be posted to you on Monday 20th of June.

For instructions for accessing the End of Year Report, please click here.

You should already have your Gateway login details. Your password will be the one that you have chosen previously when you have logged in to make appointments for parent consultations. If you need assistance with these details or in accessing the information on Gateway please contact Mr Ken Lee ken.lee@qbs.edu.hk

All families leaving QBS at the end of the academic year

Please be aware if you are leaving Quarry Bay School, you will need to download all your child’s reports from Gateway by 31st July. If your child is in Year 6 and going to an ESF secondary school, then you will be able to see your child’s reports through that school’s Gateway.

New Parent Gateway Interface Coming Online in Mid-July

The Gateway will have a new interface for parents from mid-July which ESF hope will make navigation easier for users. Please click here to see screenshots of the new interface. There is a link to video clip on the same document.

Let’s Celebrate!

The final Coffee Morning for our parents will be a big celebration of the fantastic year we have had.
All our parent community who has been involved in our school life are invited to come along for morning tea on Thursday 23rd June 2016 from 8.30. This will take place in the amphitheatre in the Learning Centre.

Bus Mums Curry Lunch

A Bus Mums Curry Lunch was organised and held on 14th June, by the PTA, to thank all the Bus Mums for their hard work during the year. They were also presented with tokens of appreciation by our Chairman, Mrs Michelle Saad, and Principal, Mrs Mina Dunstan.

PTA School Buses

SCHOOL BUSES – on 24th June 2016

School will close at 12:00noon. Please refer to the School Bus Time Schedule here.

SCHOOL BUSES – 2016/2017 ACADEMIC YEAR

Current Students:

School Buses will be available for those students only who have subscribed for the bus services commencing on the first day of school, Monday, 15th August 2016. All students who have subscribed for the services have been reserved a seat, unless your application form is incomplete and has been returned.

New Year 1 Students:

School Buses will be available for all New Year 1 Students who have subscribed for the service commencing full day School on 23rd August 2016.

Confirmation may be obtained by email only to pta@qbs.edu.hk, before 23rd June 2016 (Confirmation via phone will not be given).

Most of our popular routes are nearly full so if you have not yet applied, we urge you to send in your “late application forms” as soon as possible to the PTA Office. As we are past the submission date for applications, all forthcoming applications for current students are subject to the “late application fee” of $100, with immediate effect.

[Please note all applications will be treated on a first-come first-serve basis].

PTA SUBSCRIPTION FEES 2016/2017

Since the inception of the ESF Ordinance (2008) – all parents have been required to join and become members of their child’s School PTA.

To facilitate ease of payment of the PTA subscription fees, parents can now pay this fees together with the bus fees as stated on the bus application form. This fee is a one fee per family annual payment.

In the event that you do not subscribe to the school bus service you will be required to send a cheque to ESF centre directly, upon receiving their invoice in June.

We will liaise closely with ESF to avoid duplicate receipt of payment. All duplicate payments will be refunded back to the parents.

A drop-box is available in the PTA Office, during office operation hours, to collect the PTA Fees which will be periodically sent to ESFC.

PTA SHOP & OFFICE – SUMMER BREAK CLOSURE

PTA Shop:

The PTA Shop will close for summer break commencing : 17th June 2016. The shop will re-open 1 week prior school on: 8th August 2016 to 12th August 2016 [9:00am – 11:00am].

PTA Office:

The PTA Office will close for summer break commencing : 12:45pm, 24th June 2016. The office will re-open 1 week prior school on: 8th August 2016 to 12th August 2016 [11:00am-1:00pm]

[Normal Office and Shop Hours: will resume from 15th August 2016.]
