    • Year 6 Outward Bound
    • Monday the 25th of September at 6pm – Parent Information Evening with Kristy Elliot
    • Wednesday the 27th of September at 6pm – Year 4 Camp Talk for Parents

Next week QBS camp season will begin. The Year 6 students will set off to Outward Bound for their camp. The Outward Bound week is a great experience for students and I am sorry not to be joining this year. I will be visiting mid week to see how everyone is managing the food, camp beds and new adventures. Based upon my experience the QBS students rise to the occasion and so do the staff. One of the highlights of the week is the jetty jump so I look forward to hearing all about this aspect when I visit the students next Wednesday. I may even pack my jetty jump kit! A significant amount of planning goes into camps so that students have a rewarding and positive experience when they are away from home. Thank you to all of the staff across Year 4, 5 and 6 for their careful camp planning this half term.

QBS Voice concluded this week with final assemblies for parents and students. The QBS Voice was enjoyed by everyone and I am pleased students were so enthusiastic about joining in the fun. Please click here to see photos of the QBS Voice Assembly.

Next week QBS will host Kristy Elliot. Kristy will work with staff, students and parents on ways to build positive relationships and restorative practices. Kristy is an expert in this area and comes from Australia. She will work in the classrooms and demonstrate strategies for staff. Her work aligns with the school’s pastoral care ethos and curriculum. Please see the details below about Kristy’s parent information session.

Students have been bringing their lanterns to school this week and, as always, they are creative and colourful. During Chinese lessons the students have been making mooncakes with staff and parents. Please remember the QBS PTA Lantern Festival next Thursday evening at school between 6.30pm and 8.00pm. There are some lovely activities planned and an outdoor disco for the students. Please read the PTA section of below for more details.

After School Clubs Supervision – Important Safety Message

There is no playground supervision of children by staff after school finishes.

Students waiting for clubs must have an adult with them, both before the club starts and until it finishes. These students need to be actively supervised by the adult (parent, grandparent, driver or helper).

The adult who is supervising the child must be in the quiet area at the front of the school, and must know the child’s whereabouts at all times.

Students cannot play football, downball or use school sports equipment after school.

If your child does not participate in any after school activity, they are to go home immediately after the end of the school day. Only children in clubs should remain after school and this is going to be monitored in the future. Parents will be contacted if unsupervised children are left at school or supervision is not adequate.

Note: Only students in Year 5 and Year 6 who would normally return home on their own may wait for their club without an adult. They should wait sensibly at the front of school or where their club leader is based.

This is for the safety and well being of your children. Thank you for your support.
