Key dates for Term 1

Please click here

Key dates for the first week back from the break:

  • Tuesday the 30th of October – PTA AGM
  • Wednesday the 31st of October – Year 2 Athletics Event
  • Thursday the 1st of November – Year 1 Athletics Event
  • Friday the 2nd of November – Class Assembly (6B/6T) for parents (To view the Class Assembly rota, please click here)

It has been quite a mixed week, weather wise, for our Year 5 students who were on camp. They experienced a couple of showers but mostly had sunny days. We have received many good reports and the students have enjoyed themselves. The pictures of the students are available though the school Facebook account and this is a great way to see what is happening at school on a day-to-day basis.

The students at school seem to have settled well into their routines and learning after the half term break.

Mrs Holly Raymond

Miss Ellie Knight

We are pleased to welcome to new Educational Assistants to QBS, Mrs Holly Raymond in Year 4 and Miss Ellie Knight in Year 2. We hope that they settle well and enjoy working with the students at our school.

The Year 4 assembly was wonderful, there was a clear message about the environment and action we could take to keep our planet safe. Students from 4G and 4C were very confident throughout the performance. There was a lot of parental support this morning and we hope you enjoyed the students sharing their learning from their Unit of Inquiry.

On Thursday evening there was a presentation from “ UR Strong” which was a great workshop for parents and students. The workshop focussed upon developing good friendship and relationships strategies.

We would like to remind all students to have a raincoat in their bags in case of sudden showers. If any students have old wellington boots that they have grown out of, we are looking to keep a supply in school, so please donate them to the Year 1’s.

Wishing you a nice weekend.

Regards,

Sue Yee

Parents as Partners: Inspiring and Supporting Writers Workshop 8:20-9:20 Thursday 1st November 2018 (Amphitheatre)

This new workshop will give you an insight into how to support reading and writing at home. When we ‘read like an author’ we open our minds to the possibility of being able to write confidently in multiple genres.

The workshop will explain how reading and writing is taught at QBS and the purposeful links between the two. You will receive practical tips with ideas on how to inspire your child to become an active reader and writer.

If you are interested in supporting your child with reading or writing at home, this is the workshop for you.

Please sign this Google Form to enable us to gauge numbers for the workshop.

Diwali Celebrations @ QBS – Wednesday November 7th

All QBS students and staff will dress casual on Wednesday 7th November, 2018 to celebrate Diwali and take community action to support the Access Life Assistance Foundation.

Access Life Assistance Foundation is a registered NGO, which provides a loving and temporary home for the parent or care taker and the child undergoing the treatment for cancer. Their mission is to offer a home-like environment for these families and we also try to improve the quality of life of these children by providing practical support services, educational resources and recreational programs.

Donations can be sent into school with your child. Class teacher will collect donations at the start of school. All monies raised will be donated to Access Life Assistance Foundation.
