Key dates for Term 2

Please click here

Key dates for next week:

  • Wednesday the 24th of January – Year 5 Market Day
  • Thursday the 25th of January at 8.20 am – CNY Activity Day meeting for parents
  • Friday the 26th of January – CPD Day (no students in school)

It has been a busy second week of term. I have been pleased to see the levels of focus from the students when I have been in classrooms during the week. It is always good to see students giving their very best effort when tasks are challenging and stretching their thinking. In addition to a busy week in the classroom some students have joined trips as part of their learning – Year 6s have visited South Island School and Year 4s have been to the theatre.

The Year 5 students are looking forward to hosting their Market Day next Wednesday. There are some very creative items in production and, at present, students are exceptionally industrious along the floor in Year 5. Each group of Year 5 students are required to use some key business principles as they embark on their Market Day. Please read the school’s blog next week to find out how things go for the students.

We have over 100 students participating in the ESF Cross Country race next Saturday the 27th of January at KGV. I hope the students are looking forward to this opportunity next weekend. It is heartening to know so many QBS students enjoy running.

Please be reminded that next Friday the 26th of January QBS will be closed to students due to staff professional development and training. Teaching staff and education assistants will continue their training courses over the weekend also. Please remember next week is a four day week for students at QBS.

Regards,

MinaD2

Start of School Day – attendance register and late arrival

In Term 2 the school’s front gate will be closed at 8.15am daily when the bell rings. Any students arriving after the school gate has been closed at 8.15am will be required to register their attendance at Reception on the ground floor. These students will be marked in the Gateway attendance register as late. All teachers take the attendance register at 8.15am daily and students are required to be in the classroom for this so arrival before the school bell is expected.

Cooperation is sought by all parents to have their child at school before the 8.15am bell rings to ensure a smooth start to their learning each day.

ESF X-Country Race

On Saturday 27th January we have over 100 QBS students running at the ESF X-country run. All classes in Year 3 and above have been practising endurance running through a simplified version of the beep challenge in PE lessons.

We look forward to seeing many of you cheering on our runners at this event.
