Key dates for Term 2

Key dates for the upcoming week:

  • Tuesday the 29th of January – Year 2 Chinese Parent Teacher Consultations
  • Thursday the 31st of January at 9am – CNY assembly for parents (by invitation)

Dear parents/carers,

This week we have been treated to a fantastic performance by our Year 4 students as the culmination of their How We Express Ourselves unit of inquiry. It was wonderful today to see the children showing such confidence and enjoyment as they took to the stage. Thank you to all the adults who contributed to the performance, in particular our Year 4 team.

Students across the school have had a taste of Chinese cooking this week as we approach the lunar new year celebrations. The children have enjoyed rolling dumplings, glutinous rice balls and of course taste testing! Thank you to the Chinese team, and the many parents who supported these sessions.

A reminder to all parents to be mindful of seasonal flu at this time. Our school nurse sent an email earlier this week detailing precautions we can take at home and school to prevent disease transmission. Please take some time to read this if you have not already.

Looking ahead to next academic year, the dates of our residential trips for Year 4, 5 and 6 students have now been set and are as follows:

  • Year 4 camp – Monday 14th – Wednesday 16th October 2019 and
Wednesday 16th – Friday 18th October 2019 (class dates to be confirmed)
  • Year 5 camp – Wednesday 2nd of October to Friday 4th October 2019 (whole year group)
  • Year 6 camp – Monday 23rd – Friday 27th September 2019 (whole year group)

Finally, if you have not already been able to respond to our guiding statements survey, we would be very grateful to get your views. We are reviewing these statements this year, and the survey is one way of getting your input into this process. Please see the information below for further details.

Guiding Statements Survey Reminder

Dear Parents,

We are currently in the process of reviewing our Guiding Statements, which articulate our Vision and Mission for the students of QBS. along with our Learning and Teaching Principles (see below).

As part of that review process we would like to seek the views of all members of the QBS community, including you, the parents. Please take a moment to consider your hopes for your child around the following:

  • What do you want your child’s experience at QBS to be like?
  • What sort of people do you hope they will be, both every day and when they move on from the QBS community?

We would love to hear your thoughts. Please take a few moments to respond to the question below by completing the survey linked here.

The survey will close on Monday 28th January. Thank you in advance for your participation.

What are the 5 words you would like to use to best describe your child, both everyday and when they move on from QBS?

Mr Michael DEWEY
Vice Principal(Yr 4-6)
