Welcome Back to Term 2

I do hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year with family and friends. I certainly enjoyed my time spent on the family farm and at the beach in Australia. It was lovely to see the students back at school this week ready for a new term. They seemed rested, excited to be back and happy to see their friends. I am pleased to report the students have settled very quickly back into their learning routines. It has been great welcome new students and families to QBS this week too.

This week we have welcomed prospective Year 1 students and parents as part of the annual ESF admissions season. The Year 1 admissions process will continue for several months.

ESF annual recruitment has also commenced and I will be involved in teacher interviews over the coming weeks. I will update everyone on staffing when the ESF recruitment has concluded.

ESF Netball Tournament

Best of luck to our QBS Netball Team playing in the tournament on Saturday. The tournament will be played at QBS and on the CIS field. We are looking forward to a sunny morning of netball and hope our girls enjoy their games.

Year 6 South Island School Visits

In preparation for the transition to secondary school, the Year 6 students have been participating in Year 7 ‘taster’ days this week at South Island School. I joined 6T and 6M on their visit so that I may experience some lessons with the students. It was an interesting experience for me. The Year 6s were engaged in the various lessons they did with SIS teachers. The transition to secondary is a significant time for students and QBS staff work closely with SIS to ensure the experience is positive, well-planned and supportive for all. There will be further visits to SIS by QBS Year 6 as the year progresses.

Regards,

MinaD2

Gateway Educational Excursion Consent Form

As you know, at QBS we highly value trips and visits out of school that provide our students with real-life experiences.

In order to improve the way in which we seek your permission for these events to take place, a single form has been created on Gateway that allows you to give consent for your child to participate in future visits.

Could all parents (except Year 1 and those parents of students that are new to the school this year) please complete this form by following the link here. You will need to log-in to the Gateway with your user name and password. It would be appreciated if this could be completed by next Friday, the 15th January. Please use a computer and not a mobile device to complete this task.

If you could not click through the web link above, please copy and paste this link (https://qbs1.tg.esf.edu.hk/src/module/notice/notice.php) to your web browser address bar and press ENTER.

As ever, prior to specific trips and events taking place, further details will be communicated explaining all relevant information.

If you have any difficulty logging into the Gateway or have other questions, please contact Mr Ken Lee (ken.lee@qbs.edu.hk).

School Buses

After School Activities – Term 2

If your child/ren has registered to be involved in after school activities in Term 2, please inform us via email to pta@qbs.edu.hk.

[All parents and carers are required to inform the PTA individually.]

Change of Bus Travel Arrangement

We still have many parents who do not inform the PTA if their child/ren have a change in afternoon travel arrangements on the buses. The above results in a delayed departure from school, as buses waiting while PTA are looking for the missing students. We request for your co-operation in this matter, as it is imperative for PTA and class teacher to know if you child is not going home on the bus or not. This is in the best interest and safety of all student bus riders. (Parents are requested to inform PTA via email at pta@qbs.edu.hk as well as copying the message to the class teacher/school.)

Feedback or Suggestions

If you have any feedback or suggestions you would like to give on our event or services provided, please email directly to: ptasuggestions@qbs.edu.hk. Your email will directly be received by our Chairman who will reply you at the earliest available moment.

HELP US – IN OUR DRIVE FOR A GREENER ENVIRONMENT

We request all parents to support a greener environment by BYOB “bring your own bag” when you come to purchase items from the shop.

[With immediate effect the PTA Shop will no longer provide any shopping bags].
