Digital Citizenship – Social Media

Here is a selection of informative eSafety reading material for parents of tweens and teens about practical tips for easing social media anxiety. The material contains some interesting content for all parents. Please click here to read.

These resources may assist families to reflect on how best to take proactive steps to manage social media as children grow up.

End of Term 2

It has been another wonderful term of learning at QBS. The students have worked hard and deserve a rest over the school holidays.

This week we finished Term 3 with a lovely performance of Goldilocks and the Three Bears by Year 1 students, an amazing Year 3 Art Gallery presented by Year 3 students and a welcome party for the parents of our incoming Year 1 students.

I am looking forward to Term 3 and would like to wish everyone a very Happy Easter.

Middle Years Programme (MYP) – ESF Secondary schools

Please read letters from the Principals of South Island School, Island School and West Island School regarding MYP implementation for Years 7, 8 and 9.

Regards,
MinaD2

Staff Email Addresses

We will be removing QBS staff email addresses from the school web site due to concerns over spam and phishing. However, our existing parent body can still obtain email addresses of all staff from the Gateway. There is a panel on the front page immediately after logging in which can be used to search for all staff email addresses.

New QBS Sports Performance Kit (for Year 4, 5 and 6 students)

With the help of our kit manufacturer Tsunami Sports we have created a new and improved QBS Sports Performance Kit. This is a multi-purpose kit which will suit all physical activities that we offer at school.

The kit is a secondary option for children in Year 4-6 who are involved in QBS sport and may want to purchase an additional kit to supplement their current P.E. kit. We appreciate that washing P.E kit on a daily basis isn’t always possible.

The kit is made of a lightweight breathable Eco-friendly fabric, is anti-bacterial, and will be particularly useful in the warmer summer months in term 3.

We will be encouraging children who are involved in extra-curricular sports clubs in term 3 to wear this to their club, if they have purchased one. Children are also welcome to wear this kit to school on days when they have their P.E lessons.

As you can see from the designs, the logos on the kit ensure that children will be well recognised outside of school as a representative of QBS, ESF and Hong Kong.

Please click here to print and complete the form to place your pre-order for the kit with the PTA Shop.

Best Regards,

Mr Luke SCHRODER
P.E.Teacher

Yoga Program (for Year 1 and 2 students)

I would like to inform you of a recent addition to our Year 1 and 2 Physical Education Program.

We have recently introduced a Yoga Program which is developed from an online resource, Comic Kids. The main aim of the program is to support the development of the children’s fundamental movement skills. You may click here to visit the webpage and find out more by watching their introductory video.

The children have been really engaged in their weekly cosmic kids yoga episode and the benefits they receive are wide ranging from physical to social and emotional. I also discussed this program with parents at the recent consultations.

To view a list of how regular Yoga practice and Cosmic Kids can benefit your child, click here.

Many of the children have expressed an interest in doing the program at home and so I told them I would send out the link to parents.

Happy Easter Holidays.

Best Regards,

Mr Luke SCHRODER
P.E.Teacher

Dear Parents,

  • Are you an Enthusiastic Leader who is willing to accept challenges?
  • Do you have good social skills in presenting?
  • Are you confident and independent?
  • Do you have the quality of being a core leader?
  • Do you have a few hours to spare A MONTH leading a charity?

If YES, Then don’t spend all that time looking for a job – this is all you need!!

The Quarry Bay School PTA is searching for a new Chairman to replace our current, Mrs Michelle Saad, who will be sadly moving on with her son to SIS.

You will not need to be involved in the day-to-day elements of the PTA operations, however you may be called upon to provide assistance and support by the staff for PTA matters.

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY!

The simplicity of the PTA’s operations makes it the perfect opportunity for you to learn the basics about running and leading a business, comprising of a bus service and a school shop, as well as fund-raising events. All you need is enthusiasm, confidence, good social skills, be logical and practical in your thought processes, and ideally to have some basic background and knowledge of ESF and the School.

If you are up to to the challenge or would like to discuss the role personally, please do not hesitate to contact Mona Diwan by email at mona.diwan@qbs.edu.hk, who will be happy to give you more details on the position.
