QBS Action

Thank you for the generosity shown this week for the Shiu family. The free dress days by Quarry Bay, Bradbury and Glenealy school communities raised approximately $260,000.00. Should any families wish to contribute this link was shared via email.

Specialist Information Evening

On Thursday approximately 60 parents attended the Specialist Information Evening. The feedback from parents was very positive. Thank you for the support and interest. All specialist teachers were involved and presented. The aim of the session was to give parents a deeper understanding how specialist teachers work with the students and what learning looks like in their areas of the curriculum. The specialists’ session was filmed for parents unable to attend. The presentation can be found in the email sent out to all families. I would encourage parents to take the time to review the email because it also contains various presentations from the Welcome Back to QBS evening.

Students continue to impress me with their focus and readiness for learning across all the classrooms. These learning behaviours have been demonstrated by students even though the weather has seemed to work against us getting outside during breaks. Let’s hope for an improvement in the weather so our students can enjoy being outdoors in the playground more often. As mentioned at the recent Welcome Back to QBS evening, should any parent have any concerns about any aspect of curriculum, learning or school life please do not hesitate to contact me.

QBS Educational Priorities

The community version of the school’s annual educational priorities (Gateway login needed) summarises the focus areas for QBS this academic year. It also explains the self-study process required by international accreditation agencies (i.e., International Baccalaureate and Council of International Schools) which QBS will begin this academic year.

Amah Team

Please find below a photo of our amah team. There are new members in the team – Kin Ling, Ah Mei and Sylvia. Please say hello to them when you meet them in school.

Specialist Information Evening

It was a pleasure to welcome parents and carers back to school for another information event this week. On Wednesday (29th August) a Specialist Information Evening took place. This was an exciting event, as it was the first time this presentation has been provided at QBS.

The evening was very well received by the parents in attendance. It enabled them the chance to enhance their understanding of the role that this group of teachers plays in the education, and development of our students.

The specialist teachers who presented on the evening were:

Ceri Hill and Jessica McGraw – Expressive Arts
Sue Yee – Visual Arts
Keith Purton – Learning Technologies
Anna Caplin – Teacher Librarian
Luke Schroder and Rick Leone – PSPE/SEN

Please note – The presentation was filmed in order to enable those parents who could not attend the opportunity to view it. An email providing details of how to access this video has been sent to parents and carers.

This email also contains access to the information presentations from the Welcome To QBS Evening, and details of how to view class timetables.

Daily reading with or too an adult is part of the QBS home learning expectations and sometimes this can be difficult when we work long hours. We look forward to welcoming Domestic Helpers from across the school to the Amphitheatre, in the Learning Centre.

If you wish for your Helper to attend this course, please fill out this google form.

Kind regards,
