Key dates for next week:

  • Thursday 17th May – Year 6 Exhibition (for Year 6 parents)

2018/2019 QBS/ESF Calendar

The QBS/ESF calendar for the 2018/2019 school year can be viewed here.

During the week I have seen great learning taking place across the classrooms. The students have been working very purposefully and with good focus on daily learning tasks. Unfortunately the unsettled weather has kept everyone indoors during breaks. This has had an impact on some of the action planned by the Year 6 students. They have not been deterred and managed to put good contingency plans in place. Next Thursday is the QBS Exhibition. This is a significant learning event for our Year 6 students. I am looking forward to seeing parents at school for the exhibition next week.

The QBS Aquathon Team went very well at the Kennedy School friendly race on Thursday afternoon. There are further events scheduled for students this term and they continue with their weekly training with Mr Schroder, Mr Leone and Miss Barbour.

Best of luck to our QBS Cricket Team next week. They will be representing QBS at the Island Cricket Tournament which will take place in Happy Valley.

Thank you to Andrew ‘The Brilliant Balloon Man’ for his donation this week. Following Andrew’s very successful balloon shows last week, he donated money to the QBS PTA and this was gratefully received.

Regards,

Gymnastics and Movement Composition

In specialist led PE sessions all classes have begun a gymnastics and movement composition unit. In order to ensure all students are safe during the unit we request that students follow the following dress rules for lessons.

Jewellery

A reminder to all parents that on PE days, students should not be wearing any jewellery (earrings, necklaces or bracelets etc). If you can help to remind your children to leave these items at home when dressing in PE kit that would be very helpful.

Watches

The best option is not to wear a watch on PE kit days or for students to leave them in their school bag before coming to the PE class.

Hair Accessories

It is important that students with longer hair have their hair tied back and all hair ties are of the soft type in blue or black.

QBS Aquathon Team

On Thursday afternoon we took 3 teams to compete in an aquathon (250m swim and 1km run) event with Kennedy School. All athletes completed the course confidently and are now looking forward to our upcoming events at Kellet Kowloon and KGV in the next few weeks.

Digital Citizenship / E-safety

We have had positive feedback from parents who attended the Social Media workshop at QBS on 26th April. Please see the link below to access a copy of the presentation.
