Key dates for Term 1

Key dates for next week:

  • Year 5 InCAS
  • Tuesday the 12th of September – Parent Teacher Consultations (School closure at 12:00 noon)

Urgent – all parents are requested to update all contact details (i.e., phone numbers, address, emergency contacts) in Gateway. Recently staff have experienced times when this contact information has been incorrect. Staff have needed to make contact with a parent quickly and due to out of date information in Gateway, this has been unsuccessful. Any contact detail changes must be updated in Gateway please. Your prompt attention to this matter would be appreciated and ensures that in an emergency we can reach you.

Next week we will say goodbye to Mrs Lauren Ng one of our hard working education assistants. She has given ten years of dedicated service to our students. We have been fortunate to have such a committed, caring and professional colleague who has made a difference to the learning outcomes of QBS students. Lauren is relocating with her family to Scotland and we are sorry she will no longer be part of our community. We look forward to hearing from Lauren when she settles her family into their new life back home in Scotland. Good luck Lauren, you will be missed by everyone at QBS!

Parent Teacher Consultations begin next Tuesday the 12th of September from 12 noon. These consultations are fifteen minute 1 to 1 meetings with your child’s teacher and focus on the hopes you have for your child’s academic year. Please complete the questionnaire (see below in this newsletter for details) and return to the class teacher in advance of your consultation. We would like 100% attendance by parents at these meetings. Individual parents will be contacted by class teachers if you have not yet confirmed an appointment time. Please note that on Tuesday the 12th of September school closes for students at 12.00pm and consultations begin from 1.00pm.

We recognise that there has been quite a lot of communication with parents since returning to school. We do try to minimise the number of emails we send weekly so your ‘inbox’ does not become overloaded. It is a busy time of year and things need to be shared in a timely way with parents. Thank you for your continued attention to school communication and your child’s learning life.

This week you have received an important email for your reference:

QBS camp season is approaching for the Year 4, 5, 6 students and staff. It has been great to see so many parents joining the information sessions about camps. Camp is a valued part of the school’s curriculum. Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about camp.

Thank you to 6A and 6T for a great class assembly this week. The message from students was all about showing grit when things are difficult, not giving up and learning from mistakes. The assembly was fun and engaging. Well done to the Year 6 students!

Regards,
MinaD2
