Principal’s Comments

Reminders for next week:

  • Monday the 9th of November – no school for students due to CPD for staff
  • Friday the 13th of November – wear colourful clothes to celebrate Diwali

School Closed – Monday the 9th of November (CPD)

School is closed to students on Monday the 9th of November due to continuous professional development training for staff. The teachers will be looking at strategies in Maths which extend and challenge learners. The education assistants will be working on reading comprehension strategies and ways to personalise learning for students.

Diwali

Next Friday we would like invite all students to come to school dressed in their brightest coloured clothes to celebrate Diwali. There will be some special performances during our whole school assembly to recognise this celebration. Please be sure to send your child in colourful clothes next Friday.

Playground

The new play spaces have been a great addition to our school. We are getting used to them and enjoying the increased play space. We hope you like them and enjoy them too!

Toys at School

Toys are not to be brought into school. Unfortunately they may become lost or broken so we discourage toys in school. Please assist us by monitoring this request. There are three games students may bring to school. This is voluntary and the games are: Rubics Cubes, card games (eg Match Attax etc) and Shopkins. All of these items may be used in the new quiet area at the front of the school. They seem popular with the children so we allow these in school. Some children like to bring their own tennis ball for the Downball Area which is also accepted. Please encourage your child to name their tennis ball!

QBS Camp Season is over

The Year 4s had a lovely week on camp at Cheung Chau. The children arrived home happy and tired after a very active few days away. The staff at the Bradbury Camp told staff the QBS students were some of the best they had ever seen. This is great feedback for our school community. The QBS staff on camp this week have updated me regularly about the Year 4 children, their experiences and new adventures. I think everyone (including the staff) will sleep soundly this weekend. Thank you to all parents for being so supportive of our camp season this year, we couldn’t do it without this interest and cooperation.

Bloomberg Square Mile

I am pleased to inform you that Mr Thomas Cousins (3T teacher) was part of the winning team during the Bloomberg Square Mile race in Central on Thursday evening. Three cheers for Mr Cousins! Mr Young (6Y teacher) and Mr Bennie (PE/SEN teacher) also competed in the race so QBS was well-represented. Mr Cousins, Mr Young and Mr Bennie competed with other ESF colleagues and raised at least $80,000.00 HKD for charity.

Medical Information on Gateway

Please assist us by ensuring your child’s medical information on Gateway is updated. If there are any changes to medical needs we must be made aware of this matter so that our records are accurate. You may update medical information at any time by logging into Gateway and making these changes. If you need any assistance Mr Ken Lee is available to offer advice to parents. These are his contact details: ken.lee@qbs.edu.hk / phone: 2566 4393

Welcome to New Staff

This week two new education assistants commenced work with our students at QBS. Celina Li will be working in the Mandarin Team and Florence Huang will be supporting student learning. We are pleased to welcome these colleagues to QBS.

Regards,

School Photograph

The school photographer will be at school again on Thursday the 19th of November. We will have the whole school photo, staff group photo and some of the team photos.

  • If your child did not take the individual photo in last photo-taking session in September, please inform your class teacher who will arrange your child to have the photo that day.
  • Please be reminded that all students are to dress in navy blue school uniform on the photo day. Any students who regularly have their PE lesson will do the lesson in school uniform.

The rota for the photographs can be found here.

Year 4 Science Experiments

Do you have any unwanted plastic bottles (small: 500ml) or recyclable egg cartons at home?

Please do not throw them away!

Ms Abidi would like to collect them for some Science work she will be doing in Y4. If you have any unwanted bottles or egg cartons, please bring them to Class 4V. There is a box outside where you may drop them off. Thank you.
