Your child’s End of Year Report is now available via Gateway. Please click here for details on how to access the report. Please also be reminded that all End of Year Reports for the 2014-2015 school year will be posted home to parents from Friday the 19th of June.

Year 6 Graduation Events

The Year 6 students have had a special week with their year group lunch and final assembly. It was lovely to have the Year 6 parents join us on Thursday during the assembly. This year the students listened to a guest speaker – Mr Jamie Atkinson. Jamie is a former QBS student and he spoke fondly of his time as a student here. Jamie is the Captain of the Hong Kong Cricket Team and he travels the world playing cricket. He spoke very well to the students and encouraged them to work hard. It was good to be able to welcome him back to QBS.

1S and 1D Class Assembly

We had our final class assembly for the year today. The students from 1D and 1S entertained their parents and the whole school with their dancing, singing and sharing of important facts about people in our community. We look forward to more of these assembly moments next year too.

Year 6 Action

A group of Year 6 students have been busy working on ways to raise the community’s awareness about Christian Action and the work this charity does to support refugees in Hong Kong. This week they have promoted Dunk the Teacher and with the $10 contributions made for this event the students have raised over $4000.00 to support the food program. I have been mildly nervous about my chances of being ‘dunked’.  As expected, I will be ‘dunked’ by the students next week.

Wear Crazy Hair – Friday the 26th of June

Next Friday will be the end of a busy and productive year at QBS. We will farewell wonderful students and their families and some valued staff so let’s wear crazy hair. All students may wear free dress and crazy hair next Friday.

Staff Farewell

This academic year we will say farewell to Doug, Karen, Carrie and Amy and the school would like to recognize and thank them for their hard work and support. We wish them well in their future.

Year 6 GECKO MATHS

On Thursday 11th June, forty children from Year 6 took part in the annual GECKO MATHS competition, held at South Island School. The competition was between 8 teams from each of: QBS, SIS Year 7, and Bradbury School.
GECKO Maths is a team competition, whereby each team tackles 20 problem solving type questions in the given time of 40 minutes. It requires; teamwork, conceptual understanding, and lateral thinking strategies. (It’s also good fun!)

The competition was won by an SIS Year 7 Team who scored 18 points. The QBS team of:
Rachel Lu, William MacIntosh, Ivan Ivanov, Michelle Kim and Kadia Fung, finished second overall on 16 points, and was the highest scoring team from QBS and Bradbury Schools.
Congratulations to all students from QBS who took part, and special thanks to Mrs.Karen Sham, who organised the event, and to all of the SIS staff involved.
