Class 3S and 3T Assembly

It was with great pleasure that I watched the Year 3 assembly this morning and it was nice to see so many parents attending the performance. The assembly was all about getting around Hong Kong and finding significant places by using directions. It was very informative and the children enjoyed learning about the special aspects of Hong Kong that make it such an interesting city. The singing made it particularly enjoyable especially the MTR song, which will stick in everyone’s head for a while! Thank you to the children, teachers and EA’s of 3T and 3S.

Orchestra Jam Day

Our Orchestra have been out of school today at Kowloon Junior School to experience working with school orchestras from other ESF school in an Orchestra Jam day. This is a great opportunity for our musicians to share their love of Music with others and Miss Hill will share the photos of the day next week.

Uniform for the colder weather

We have been extremely fortunate with the weather so far this November, bright clear sky and sunny days. As the weather may turn cooler please ensure that children are wearing the correct school winter uniform and if vests or T-shirts are worn under the uniform they are not visible. Please click here to learn more about correct school uniform.

Girls Netball

On Wednesday 18th November, nine girls from Year 5 and 6 took part in a netball tournament at Aberdeen Sports Ground. We played seven matches in total against different schools on Hong Kong Island. The competition was tough and all the teams played really well. As a school, we came 3rd overall, beating 5 other schools and only losing to two of them.

All of us played really well as a team and supported one another. We had a great time competing against different schools and building on our confidence, cooperation and teamwork.
We’re looking forward to our next tournament on Saturday 5th December.

The girls have devoted a lot of time and effort in learning the game of netball in the QBS Netball Academy in addition to practising in their own time. We are so pleased to have over 50 girls in the QBS Netball Academy (Year 4-6) thanks to the support of our netball coaches, Miss Creighton, Mrs. Massarella, Mrs Grant and Ms Trunkfield.

If you would like to get your daughter involved in netball at Quarry Bay School there is a netball club which will continue throughout the year on Mondays after school. This club is suitable for students in year 1-6.

Please contact emma.gregory@esf.org.hk at ESF Services for more information on the program they offer at Quarry Bay School.

You can also visit the ESF Services website for additional information.

Year Group Athletics Events

We are looking forward to hosting the upcoming athletics events on the following dates.

Year 2 – Tuesday 1st December

Year 1 – Thursday 10th December

The athletics events will take place at Quarry Bay School between 9.00 am – 12.15 pm. Parents are invited to attend. Further information regarding these events will be emailed to individual year groups soon.

Teachers Taking Action to Make a Difference

Last week, I travelled to Cambodia to work in a local school alongside the staff and students. The ESF have a connection with a local NGO (ISF Cambodia) and they sponsor the schools to help to improve the education for the students and teachers in the two campuses.

I was privileged to be asked to go along again (I went last April too) to work in both the campuses providing classroom sessions, staff meetings as well as full day workshops for the teachers. I taught the children in their English classes on Thursday and Friday and ran two days of workshops for the Cambodian teachers on Saturday and Sunday.

The enthusiasm and appreciation of the Cambodian people is immense and I feel proud to have been part of such a programme.
