Christmas Fayre

Last Friday evening was a lovely community evening at QBS. I hope parents and children enjoyed the fayre. It seems to get bigger and better each year. Thank you to all families for supporting the school and the PTA. The effort which goes on ‘behind the scenes’ to make this event happen is significant. Thank you to the PTA and to all members of our community for contributing to make it happen and ensuring its success.

Parents as Partners – Community Conversations

This week we had a small group of parents attend our first community conversations session. It was an opportunity to consider how parents can have more voice in our community. It is hoped attendance at these sessions will grow and support our school’s development. Please do not hesitate to speak to Mrs Yee, Mr Dewey or myself about community conversations.

‘Communication App’ Trial

As previously mentioned in the newsletter, staff recognise that the volume of online information sent to parents is a constant aspect of weekly school life and we would like to work on improving how this is shared/sourced in our school community. In Term 2 QBS will launch a trial of an app designed to streamline school communications which are sent home to parents (e.g newsletter, email, urgent alerts, calendar events etc). Approximately 70+ parents are involved in this trial. Updates on the trail will follow in future.

QBS Panto – Hoodwinked

Next week the drama, orchestra and dance club students will perform the QBS Christmas pantomime. This year the show is called Hoodwinked. There will be 120 students involved in the pantomime which is exciting for everyone. Miss McCorkell (1R) has been performing in ‘Snow White The Panto’ and has had a lead role. She has also been working with Miss Hill to lead the drama club.

Guiding Statements Survey

Dear Parents,

We are currently in the process of reviewing our Guiding Statements, which articulate our Vision and Mission for the students of QBS. along with our Learning and Teaching Principles (see below).

As part of that review process we would like to seek the views of all members of the QBS community, including you, the parents. Please take a moment to consider your hopes for your child around the following:

  • What do you want your child’s experience at QBS to be like?
  • What sort of people do you hope they will be, both every day and when they move on from the QBS community?

We would love to hear your thoughts. Please take a few moments to respond to the question below by completing the survey linked here.

What are the 5 words you would like to use to best describe your child, both everyday and when they move on from QBS?

Mr Michael DEWEY
Vice Principal(Yr 4-6)

It was great to have so many students, parents and teachers participating and we would like to promote the event within the QBS community again.
