Class 3G and 3C Assembly
The Year 3 Assembly was all about the Weather today, which was timely due to the inclement nature of the weather in HK at the moment. It was nice to see so many parents attending the performance. The assembly was very informative and there was a wide range of ways to convey information, stop animation, dance, informative facts and acting out of the water cycle. The children enjoyed learning about the special aspects of Weather and worldwide facts. The singing made it particularly enjoyable too with special raps. Thank you to the children, teachers and EA’s of 3C and 3G.
Chinese New Year activities
We have lots of activities going on around school this week, related to the Lunar New Year .The Mandarin department have organised dumpling making with the children and lovely smells of fresh dumplings have been all around school. I have had the pleasure of eating a few with my coffee!
Next Friday we have out special New Year assembly. Please be reminded that all children can come in bright clothes (especially red and gold) to celebrate the festival on Friday 5th February.
Uniform for the colder weather
The weather is gradually getting warmer although it is still very wet and cold. Please make sure that the children have appropriate raincoats in their bags. The school uniform that can be layered with shirts, knitted vests, sweat shirts, fleece and the QBS Fleece Jacket. Many children wear vests under their shirts and we recommend that children wear long sleeved, white and round necked thermal T-shirts under their school shirt, whilst the weather is cold. Girls are allowed to wear black or navy blue leggings or thick woollen tights under their skirts. Non uniform hats and scarves and gloves can also be worn.
Athletic days
We are currently running Athletic days across some year groups. Parents are invited to attend however please be mindful to check the information before the relevant athletics day as the inclement weather can affect the decision to run the day or cancel. This is because the playground surfaces become very slippery and we want to ensure that it is a successful and safe day for all.
QBS Got Talent
Riber Key, Isabella Stewart and Samantha Lester from Year 6 encouraged all the children at QBS to show their talents and with Miss Hills’s support, ran the competition and finals this week. The finalist will show their talents to the whole school after the CNY holiday. Well done, to these girls for taking action to celebrate the talented children at QBS.

QBS has got talent!
Congratulation to the Year 6 girls from 6K (Riber, Isabella, Samantha, Angelica, Venus and Andrea) who successfully ran the QBS has got talent contest. This competition was child led and an example of Year 6 children taking action. The girls promoted the competition, organised the auditions and ran the final that took place. Lots of children entered with a variety of acts such as gymnastics, singing, guitar playing, football skills and even magic tricks. The children who came to watch the show during the lunch hour really enjoyed the performances. Well done to everyone who took part.
Gateway Medical Module
ESF are making some improvements to the medical section of the Gateway. As a result parents will be unable to make medical information update requests on the Gateway from Monday 1st February until the changes have been completed and checked (probably Thursday 4th February). In the mean time, if you wish to inform the school of any changes to your child’s medical needs, please contact nurse Delia at nurse@qbs.edu.hk or Tel: 29794434.

A big thank you to all our volunteers (teachers, parents and staff) as well as all our students and parents who came to watch the shows. It was a great event with over 300 people attending. The PTA would also like to thank “Andrew the Brilliant Balloon Man” to perform for us. Thank you.
School Buses
Change of Bus Travel Arrangement
We still have many parents who do not inform the PTA if their child/ren have a change in afternoon travel arrangements on the buses. The above results in a delayed departure from school, as buses waiting while PTA are looking for the missing students. We request for your co-operation in this matter, as it is imperative for PTA and class teacher to know if you child is not going home on the bus or not. This is in the best interest and safety of all student bus riders. (Parents are requested to inform PTA via email at pta@qbs.edu.hk as well as copying the message to the class teacher/school.)
