Principal’s Comments
It has been lovely to be back in school this week after my week recruiting in the UK. Around the school there has been some fantastic learning, with children as active and engaged as ever. Looking back, it has been another eventful half term, with trips, visitors, and events happening in every year group. We’ve eaten out in restaurants, enjoyed theatre performances, interviewed visitors from NGOs, and competed in sports tournaments. Throughout the term I have been again impressed by the enthusiasm of our students.

- Thursday 18th February – Parent Teacher Consultations

Chinese New year Assembly
Today we had a wonderful Chinese New Year assembly. Talented children from across the school put on an amazing show that dazzled us with colour and life. Lion dancers, diablo throwers, and dancers had us entertained from the first minute to the last. Actors and puppeteers of all kinds told us the story of the Journey to the West, and there was even a special guest appearance from Mr Um! Well done children to all children involved, and thank you to the Mandarin team who put in a huge amount of effort to make this amazing event happen.
Upcoming Parent Teacher Consultations
Shortly after the holiday parent teacher consultations will be taking place on Thursday 18th and Thursday 25th February. We look forward to welcoming you into school to discuss your child’s progress this year. Booking for these consultation meetings has now closed. Should you have any queries, please contact Mr Ken Lee directly on 2566-4393 or ken.lee@qbs.edu.hk . Please remember that on Thursday 18th February, school will close at 12 noon in order that the meetings can take place.
ESF Recruitment
The past few weeks have been a busy and important time across the foundation as we have been meeting teachers from all around the world who would like to come and work with us. It has been a very positive process for QBS and I am delighted to welcome Ms Cerys Ferriday, who is currently working in Hong Kong, and Mr Iain Mc Colm and Mr Ian Armour, currently working in the UK, who will be joining us in August. Congratulations also to Mr Leone, who will be taking on the role as PSPE/SEN teacher, and to Mrs McGraw, who will next year be working alongside Miss Hill as a part-time Expressive Arts teacher. Finally congratulations to Miss Creighton who will be continuing in her class teacher role as a permanent member of staff. Further details about our new colleagues will be shared after the holiday.
Have a wonderful break everyone. I look forward to seeing you all back in school on Monday 15th February.
Regards,
