Principal’s Comments
Please be reminded that the Parent Teacher Consultation bookings have opened in the Gateway today. All parents are invited to book an appointment with their child’s teacher for these consultations on Thursday the 17th of September and Thursday the 24th of September. An email about these consultations was sent to all parents this week. It included some homework for parents to complete and return to school by Thursday the 10th of September. Many parents have made their bookings today and we thank you for your attention to this matter. Please be advised that the specialist teachers are now fully booked for both days. We are looking forward to seeing you in school for this event.
We hope you notice the new staff PE kits which colleagues are wearing during games lessons. They look really smart. Thank you to the QBS PTA for sourcing these new sporting kits for staff.
Over the coming five weeks all students from Year 2 to Year 6 will complete an online standardised assessment from Durham University called InCAs (Interactive Computerised Assessment System) at school. This is an assessment which QBS introduced for all students last year. InCAs assesses aspects of literacy, numeracy and developed ability. Parents will receive information about their child’s InCAs results after all of the assessments have been completed. Year 1s will not do the InCAs assessment until later in the academic year.
It was lovely to have all of the Year 1 students in school and I am looking forward to spending time with them next week in their classrooms.
We are currently investigating a system to establish parent email groups for classes so that you might more easily contact other parents for play dates or social engagements for the children. Please watch for further details about this voluntary initiative for parents.
Thank you for supporting the lantern making competition. There are some amazing lanterns arriving at school. Today I saw a Minion which was a surprise!
Regards,

PTA School Buses
We now have all the new year 1 students travelling to and from school on the buses. We would like to say a big thank you to all our older students who have volunteered as bus buddies and walk the new students into school every morning.
Just a few reminders to continue with if you have subscribed for the school buses:
* After-School Activities: will be starting next week. You are required to inform PTA at pta@qbs.edu.hk of the days you child will not be travelling on the bus due to the after-school activity.
* Change in daily travel schedule: Parents are requested to inform PTA by email only to pta@qbs.edu.hk for any change in daily travel schedule for their child/ren before 12:00noon. You are also required to inform the school/class teacher separately.
* Parent concerns/requests related to buses: We request parents to refrain from boarding the school buses to discuss bus matters with the bus escorts, especially since the buses are on a tight schedule to ensure students arrive at school on time and avoid delays in the schedule. All school bus concerns/requests are to be addressed to the PTA directly. You may contact our Bus Administrator, Dorothy Ho, on 28871004 or by email at pta@qbs.edu.hk, who will be happy to assist.
School bus schedule in the upcoming weeks is as below:
- 11th September: CPD Day – No school for students (No school bus)
