Welcome back to the final term of the academic year. The children have returned from their holidays with big smiles and quickly settled into learning routines. Please click here to read the important dates for Term 3. Please do not hesitate to contact me – my door is always open to parents and I welcome contact about your child’s life at school.
I would like to thank people for the thoughtful, kind and caring comments expressed to me about my father’s well-being. Sadly he is unwell and, at times like this, kindness means a great deal.
Uniform
Thank you to parents for giving feedback to PTA on the new style uniform items. This feedback is followed up with the ESF supplier. Gradually the new style uniform will be introduced into the QBS community. This week I have seen the samples of the new look PE shirts which are quite smart. Parents are encouraged to replace older uniform with new items as they become available and when children have outgrown their old uniform.
Please ensure your child is dressed in summer uniform in Term 3. Please click here to view the summer uniform details. Students are not to wear wrist bands and decorative items on their arms. I have noticed students wearing these types of decorative items during the week.
Any mosquito protection wrist/ankle bands are acceptable with uniform at school. Please ensure your child does not wear decorative jewellry to school. A watch or any item of religious or spiritual significance is acceptable. Earrings must be small simple silver or gold studs or sleepers please.
Staffing
This week we welcomed Ms Webb back to QBS. She has been on leave this academic year following the birth of her son. Ms Webb will be teaching class 3C in Term 3.
We have said farewell to Mrs Sue Mason (1H Education Assistant). She will be missed by all and wish her all the very best for her future in the UK. Mr Alistair Yee will be the Education Assistant in 1H for the remainder of the school year. Mr Yee knows QBS and it has been good to welcome him back.
We have welcomed Mrs Jessica Daswani this week. Mrs Daswani is the QBS PTA Coordinator and will be available to assist parents and community members on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday. Mrs Daswani is working in the PTA Office.
Regards,
Principal

Name and class need to on the back of the entry and can be handed in to Mrs Yee by Friday 27th April. There will be a front and back cover design chosen and the winning designs will be on all the QBS Year Books.
E-Safety Workshop For Parents
Dear Parents,
Keeping children safe online is one of the most challenging aspects of parenthood today. QBS will be holding a workshop for parents on the subject on Thursday 26th April from 6-7pm. It will be presented by Kevin Tibble (ESF Learning Technologies Advisor) and Keith Purton (QBS Lead Teacher of Learning Technologies).
The event will give practical information on the 3 tenets of e-safety: Education, Agreements and Technical Controls. It will also cover the benefits and pitfalls of the social media apps and online games which many children of primary ages currently use. The session will be of most interest to parents of children in Year 4 – 6 but parents of children in all year groups are welcome to attend. This session is aimed primarily towards parents, and as such, children should not attend on this occasion. There will be opportunities during learning time for students to learn about the issues covered in this session.
Please fill in the form sent in an email sent on 28th March if you intend to come along in order to help us understand the number of parents we can expect at the event.
QBS Year 3 Multisports
The QBS Year 3 Multisports Club on Thursdays after school still has vacancies. If you want your child to join, please contact Nurse Delia.
The Year 3 Multi-sports club provides an introduction to various sporting activities with a focus on fundamental skills and concepts such as speed, agility, balance and ball familiarity. Students will experience a range of sporting skills through activities such as gymnastics, basketball, football, tennis and athletics.
After School Clubs Supervision – Important Safety Message
There is no playground supervision of children by staff after school finishes.
Students waiting for clubs must have an adult with them, both before the club starts and until it finishes. These students need to be actively supervised by the adult (parent, grandparent, driver or helper).
The adult who is supervising the child must be in the quiet area at the front of the school, and must know the child’s whereabouts at all times.
Students cannot play football, downball or use school sports equipment after school.
If your child does not participate in any after school activity, they are to go home immediately after the end of the school day. Only children in clubs should remain after school and this is going to be monitored in the future. Parents will be contacted if unsupervised children are left at school or supervision is not adequate.
Note: Only students in Year 5 and Year 6 who would normally return home on their own may wait for their club without an adult. They should wait sensibly at the front of school or where their club leader is based.
This is for the safety and well being of your children. Thank you for your support.
