Principal’s Comments
Dear Parents and Carers
It has been another busy week of learning and I have seen some great lessons taking place across the school. We finished the week with a lovely class assembly by 1B and 1R students which parents and the whole school enjoyed together. It was great to visit Africa and learn about animals.
Battle of the Books
I am pleased to report that QBS participated in the annual ESF Battle of the Books competition this week. This requires serious commitment from the students as they are expected to read a series of set texts and answer many questions associated with their reading. They did a great job. The students were proud of their win and enjoyed the experience. We look forward to more reading challenges in the future. Thanks to Stephanie Gilchrist and Miss Luong for supporting the students.
Creative Club
On Wednesday a group of very excited Year 4 students held a Mini Expo and shared their personal inquiries with parents and teachers. These students have been meeting weekly with Ms Abidi in Creative Club and doing independent research which has also included interviews with experts. The students chose to find out more about something they felt truly passionate about. Their passions included things such as dogs, evolution, rocks, military battles, cooking, tennis, songs and origami. The students had fantastic support from their parents when they came into school and participated in the Mini Expo. The children reported back that the best part of Creative Club was being able to find out about things of personal interest. Well done Creative Club students.
Athletics Meet
Mr Schroder and Mr Bennie accompanied a group of students to the Primary Athletics in Kwai Chung on Friday. Good luck to all of the students involved. We look forward to hearing about this event next week when the students and teachers return to school. The students wore our new QBS athletics kit.
QBS has over 50 students involved in the Splash and Dash this weekend. There are also a large number of Year 3 and Year 4 students involved in World Athletics Day this weekend. Good luck to all QBS students participating in this event.
May the fourth be with you!
I didn’t actually see Yoda or Luke Skywalker at school this week but every time I visited the Learning Centre there was plenty of Star Wars excitement. A moon habitat appeared mid week! The students really enjoyed Space Week in the Learning Centre. QBS has a beautiful Learning Centre due to the financial support of our QBS PTA in recent years. It was great to see so many students in the Learning Centre participating in a range of different activities all week. Special thanks to Mrs McGraw and Mrs Tang for making it happen.
QBS Zoo
We are fortunate to have guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits in our zoo and the students do a wonderful job taking responsibility of them each day. We are seeking more volunteers to home the QBS Zoo animals on weekends. Please contact Ms Davies (lisa.davies@qbs.edu.hk) with your interest and support the work of our students by taking care of a pet for the weekend.
Regards,
