Key dates for the upcoming week:
- Tuesday the 4th of December – Year 1 Chinese Parent Teacher Consultations
- Thursday the 6th of December – Parents as Partners – Community Conversations
- Friday the 7th of December – Last day of ESF/private clubs
This has been another busy week at school, with lots happening and also much to look forward to as we approach the end of term. Year 4 students enjoyed a trip to South Island School earlier this week, and were very impressed by their student production. It was great for our children to see older ESF students acting as positive role models. Year 5 and 6 students are embarking on new units of inquiry with a strong scientific focus, so enjoyed visits to the Science Museum in Kowloon and Sha Tin Science Park also. These opportunities to learn outside the classroom are an exciting part of the curriculum.
This week, Mina has been involved in the ESF annual recruitment process. I know she is looking forward to returning to school for this evening’s event, and to seeing the children. The process of welcoming new students to QBS for next year has also already begun, with an information evening for prospective parents having taken place this Wednesday. Thank you to all those existing parents who attended this evening and the colleagues who led the presentation.
This morning, we enjoyed a wonderful music assembly, giving students involved in performing this evening the opportunity for a final rehearsal. Looking forward, we have students representing QBS tomorrow at Harrow School netball tournament and wish the girls all the best. Next week, the children have Christmas parties to look forward to, and rehearsals for the highly anticipated panto are continuing, so there is much excitement in the air.
Finally, we of course hope to see many of you tonight for our Winter Fair. The fair starts at 5:30pm, and we look forward to welcoming the community into school to enjoy a relaxed evening together. The PTA, along with staff and volunteers from the community have been working very hard to bring the event to life, and we would like to thank everyone who has offered their support.
Warm regards
Michael Dewey
Vice Principal

Donation to West Morninghope
This term, Quarry Bay’s Student Voice are reaching out to support West Morninghope School, located in Chai Wan. It is a school for disabled children. The school helps the students develop self respect, self discipline, self confidence and independence. They also teach the children life skills such as, personal hygiene, how to cook, how to dress, safety and how to communicate in English.
At QBS we like to support our community, so the student voice are taking action by asking all the students to donate a small Christmas gift to the children at West Morninghope School. These gifts will be delivered on Monday 11th December 2018, so that the children can have an enjoyable Christmas.
The types of gifts that would be suitable to donate are: stuffed toys, simple puzzles, easy children books or easy duplo/lego packs.
Once you have bought the gift, please wrap it, attach a note to say whether it is suitable for a boy or girl (or both) and what age it would be appropriate for. Bring the gift to 4S where it will be stored until it can placed under the Christmas tree in the school hall. Helpers from year 5 and 6 will deliver the gifts to the children at West Morninghope School on everyone’s behalf.
Thanks for your support and cooperation.
From: Student Voice reps, Mrs Kanthan, Ms Ferriday and Mr Sercombe
