Celebration of Learning Day

We were delighted to have parents in school on Friday for Celebration of Learning Day. This is a completely student led event and the involvement from families was fantastic again this year. The day is important part of the annual reporting cycle where students are able to spend time with parents showcasing some of their skills, sharing their learning and discussing successes. Thank you to all families for their support and involvement. We hope you gained insight into your child’s learning life at school and enjoyed the experience.

Staffing Change

This week Nurse Delia has announced that she will be leaving QBS at the end of the academic year after fifteen years of valued and loyal service to our community. She is moving to a new professional opportunity and I wish her every success for the future. Thank you Nurse Delia for your contribution to the lives of students and families throughout your years of service at QBS.

The school is now looking for a new school nurse. The vacancy has been posted on the QBS and ESF websites this week. Please share this vacancy within your networks as we are looking for an outstanding candidate for this position. The QBS School Nurse arrangements for the new school year will be confirmed as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing the students back in school on Tuesday for our final two weeks of the school year.

Regards,
MinaD2

QBS Wins South Island School GECKO MATHS Competition

GECKO Maths is a Year 6 team based competition, that tests both mathematical ability and teamwork skills. Eight teams of five from QBS competed against eight teams from SIS Year 7, and eight teams from Bradbury School. Quarry Bay ended up winning both the overall competition, and the individual team competition.

  • Overall Results: QBS 115 pts., SIS 103 pts., Bradbury School 98 pts.
  • Individual Team Champions with 29 pts: Andrew Luo, Melosa Lam, Tiffany Mak, Scarlet Pang, Kierin Chung.

An excellent effort and well done to all 39 Year 6 children who were involved.

Year book Distribution

Dear Parents,

The year book distribution will start the week beginning Monday 25th of June.We are very excited to receive the books from the printer despite the slight delay. Thank you to those of you who have ordered your book already.

CIS Accreditation (Please complete the survey on/before Thursday 28th of June)

As you will be aware, earlier this term we welcomed visitors from the Council of International Schools (CIS) to Quarry Bay as part of our ongoing process of re-accreditation. CIS is a global non-profit organisation that supports schools in providing high quality international education. The visit was positive and successful, with many strengths of our school being affirmed by our visitors.

The next step in the re-accreditation process involves a period of self study, which colleagues across the school will be undertaking next academic year. In order to inform this next stage, all stakeholders are given the opportunity to share their opinions about the school. Today, an email will be sent to all parents asking that they complete a short questionnaire. We would be extremely grateful if all parents could take a short time to complete this survey, which will be open until the penultimate day of term – Thursday 28th of June.

The survey is available in multiple languages, and should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. CIS ask that both parents / guardians in a family complete the survey. Please click here for a link to the email providing further details.

We very much value your views, and hope to have a high response rate to this request. Thank you in advance for your time in completing the survey.
