New QBS Website
Today you will read the newsletter via the new QBS website. We will continue to email you the weekly newsletter which will be directly linked into the new QBS website. One of the key aspects of this new website will be its potential to share news more frequently and in a more user-friendly format for our community.
School Closure
Please be reminded that QBS is closed to students on Friday the 22nd of May. School reopens for students on Tuesday the 26th of May. The school is closed due to the public holiday and the QBS/ESF staff professional development schedule.

Celebration of Learning – June 12th
This event is an opportunity to spend time with your child as they share with you some of their learning achievements for the academic year. Please take time to watch the short information clip we have made to explain what the QBS Celebration of Learning is all about. You will see staff, parents and students talking about what it is, why we do it and why it is important. All parents must book an appointment time during this day and attend with your child. Further details are available for parents via this letter.

Student Withdrawals
If you are withdrawing your child at the end of this academic year, please complete the student withdrawal notice and return it to the school office via email by the 1st June 2015 or earlier if possible. As we are planning for our classes next year it would be beneficial for us to know about children leaving QBS as soon as possible.
If we do not hear from you by the 1st of June, we will assume that your child is returning after the summer and parents may be liable for the tuition fees for September 2015 even if the student does not return to school.
Please contact Miss Frances Lai (Admissions Secretary) on 2566 5206 if you need assistance with this matter. Miss Lai’s email address is: frances.lai@qbs.edu.hk.

Mother Tongue Story Time
Thank you so much Dalia for reading a lovely story in Russian to our Y1 and Y2 students. We loved finding out that animal sounds are different in various languages!

SUGAR: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!
Healthy Eating Workshop: Part 3
Hidden sugars find their way into so many of the foods that our children eat. With childhood obesity, type 2 diabetes and other related diseases a real concern for our children and the clear association between increased sugar intake to risk factors for overall health, it is our responsibility to keep added sugars to a minimum in our children’s diet.
Come along to this informal talk on how to keep our children’s food sweet enough without the unnecessary added sugars!
A presentation by Janie Grant for all QBS parents and carers on Thursday 4th June from 11 to 12. Please come along to the amphitheatre in the Learning Centre.
Textile Arts at QBS
As you may have noticed at QBS, there is always a lot of art included in our daily routines. This includes performance arts and visual arts. Here is a little request: if you have any unwanted wool (yarn), embroidery threads, buttons, sequins, ribbons, knitting needles, crochet hooks etc at home which you would be happy to donate to school, please send them in to Ms Abidi. They can then be used and enjoyed by all of our students.
International Children’s Day Assembly
At QBS, we celebrated the International Children’s Day. The children performed in an impressive assembly and we enjoyed sharing and learning about each other’s cultures and interests. Thank you to all the parents and staff who supported this.
